What is FtheBlocks ?

It all started in December 2014. We were talking with a friend about the games we love and we both realized that Konami/Hudson stopped making Bomberman games a long time ago. He told me "You should make one !" and I thought "Yeah I actually could ! I'll make my own Bomberman ! With blackjack tables ! And hookers !"

I was using Unreal Engine 4 at work for my companies' projects and I thought it could be a good idea to expend my skillset by making my own Bomberman. I started to draft a quick game design document and to work on a prototype. At the beginning the idea was to make a modern version of Super Bomberman 2 but new ideas came popped in my head and there's now a lot more I want to do.

I only work on it on my spare time and I basically gave up gaming to focus on my game. It's at the same time rewarding and frustrating. I'm doing what I love but it's moving slowly and the temptation to play games is strong.

The goal is not to sell it. It's to share something fun with friends and to have a "playable" portfolio in case I have to look for a new job. It's coded almost entirely in Blueprints with some slight C++ touches.

The result is called FtheBlocks and you get the latest version in the Download page.
It's a freeware so feel free to download, share, torrent,...
I'll try to push updates on a regular basis.

I'll also try to post some blog updates to explain how the game is developed, some tips and tricks for Unreal Engine 4 and some screenshots/videos of work in progress.
